Back to School or Normal?

My baby boy starts 1st grade soon, we went today to find out who his teacher is & to get his hair cut. I just can not get my head around how quickly time has went by. Seems like just yesterday I was taking 3 pregnancy test to believe the news after more than 3 years trying we did it!!
Now he is a pizza eating game playing basketball loving 6 year old who quit giving me kisses on the lips months ago!
Not to mention the fact that when our daughter was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis at 13 months that sorta turned the next 3 years into a big blur.. We look at her like what the hell happened to our baby girl? Oh chemo that's it. O missed out on a lot too but that comes with being a SuperSib. I just say thank you every day that it is behind us now!

Can you say baby fever is kicking in at our house!

Yesterday was a very big day for us! Our daughter had her 3 month check up & CT-Scan to monitor her remission from Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. We got up bright and early to head off to Indianapolis Riley Hospital for Children.

We made the very familiar 2 1/2 hour drive there and back not knowing what the results of the scans would be.
Sissy who used to sit very still and stay super quiet for her port access for chemo and blood draws was a screaming monster during her IV to get labs and for the contrast dye for the CT.. It took me and 3 nurses to hold her down for the poke she was as quiet as could be from then on. She put up a little fuss getting the contrast injection but she showed me she is still super girl (our name for her at home) by being still for her pictures of inside her ear scan to make sure the tumor on her skull had not returned. We went back up to Hem/Onc clinic to see some old friends who could not believe how much K has grown. She was a baby when we first met the doctors & nurses and now well she is a little princess spoiled rotten drama queen who loves everything pink and is super friendly even after all she has been through. Seen her doctor who she still hugs every time we see him cutie pied him for a few minutes as always he told me how amazing she looks and just smiles!!
We made our trip down to McDonald's after her appointment's to grab some lunch then hit the road home to wait some more for the news! Don't these doctors know that We-speaking for all chemo parents- would wait as long as it takes to get the news right there. I don't know about other parents but I stress out almost from the time of the last scan until the new one on if we are having a relapse. Geez.. Give us the news why we are there..
So after being home several hours her doctor called and gave me the news-wait for it- ALL CLEAR!! Such a big sigh of relief. We also got the clear for her to start immunizations which is great news, just another step towards us finding our normal.

The next few weeks look to be super busy back to school for O this week, summer dance class ending and new classes starting. Karate for O. Two back to school nights. Then sissy starts school.

Oh and September is Childhood Cancer Awarness Month!! Kids Get Cancer Too!! And Histiocytosis Awareness Month!

BIC Soleil Savvy BzzReview

My newest Buzz Agent BzzKit!                                             Perfect for smooth summer shaves!

BIC® SOLEIL® SAVVY™ Buzz KiT

Being a Buzz Agent I was able to try out & review the BIC® Soleil® Savvy™. Perfect product review for the summer. The razor which is disposable comes with 4 refill cartridges with 3 blades each cost about $8. You do have to buy a new set each time the because refills are not sold alone. I did get this product for FREE!

Razor with refill cartridges

The razor, I found to be a little awkward although the handle was a good shape & easy to hold, but the blade head was a little small for me.  The straight edges on the razor head made it hard to get a good shave around my knees & ankles the problem spots!    However the blades lasted a good 2+ weeks with out any rust issues. The moisture strip which is a little smaller than my usual brand didn't last quite as long before it started to dry up.

Triple Blade with Moisture Strip

I did notice that I got a smooth shave that lasted a good 2 days before any stubble showed up. Overall I'm not sure if I will buy this razor again. I normally buy another brand of the same razor which I really like. This razor has it's pro's & con's but overall is a good value & gave me a good shave. The product I got the disposable razor along with the 4 refills lasted me about 6 weeks & I just put in my last refill so I should get another week or so out of it.

Since my last post I slowly recovered from my trauma at the ballet recital for my little princess.. It took days!! I have been busy every day with the kids. We bought a pool again this year so many many hours have been spent outside wearing them out  having fun. Must say my tan is looking good!!
Last week we took our yearly trip to Holiday World & Splashing Safari always a great time. We have been going on the 4th of July for several years now. My son was big enough to ride all the roller coasters & big ride he officially has NO FEAR!! I love how the park is so clean & safe no issues for us of ever having our stroller or bags messed with. You get free drinks which on the day we  went were a must have. Unfortunately this year our area is in extreme drought so no fireworks display. You know we didn't miss it to much. We left in time to get back home & see the show our town does!
Many days this summer we have been to the local library this year they've had an awesome summer reading program & we've had fun exploring the local historic sites that have taken part.
I realized today that school starts for my lil man in a month. He will be in the 1st grade & mommy isn't ready for him to grow up anymore.
Next up for us Children's Museum & getting ready for school. Ballet just started back up & karate is starting too busy months coming up on us again!
Wouldn't change a thing about the summer with the kiddo's!

Here's a shot of my kiddo's with Holidog at Holiday World!

Dance Mom No Thank you!

Last year my then 3 year old started a ballet & tumbling class. She loved it 30 minutes a week I can handle this.  January comes around & the talk of an upcoming recital/showcase was brought up. Great sounds so cute. Then picking out music & costumes head pieces oh my.. This is when I started thinking oh my this is new! The girls started practicing their dance great they were so sweet learning it.
As the big day got closer more info was handed out, picture order forms, t-shirts to buy, video's to purchase new shoes & tights to be bought, geez.. The song they were dancing to was 1:52. The morning of the show I got my first look into the world I spoke openly about dis-liking. Dance/cheer moms!!! Little girls with more make-up then me on a night out in my 20's. Glitter hair spray & body gel. Hair pieces what the hell have I done. Pictures & practice over I drove home to tell my husband what I had just seen. My daughter had a little bit of eye shadow, lip-gloss on & blush on. I was just in awe, me speechless!
The night of the show we got to there for the performance. I nearly fell over when walking into the dressing room. The smell of hair spray led the way. I walked into the room to heavier makeup than I had seen that morning if it was possible. Again feeling like my baby was the odd one for not looking like a 20 year old. These little girls with the spray tan hair pieces eye shadow not being able to blink I felt like I was in another world. What was I subjecting my baby too. Little girls crying because their mom's pulled their hair or poked them with a pin. And most of them are mean to each other talking behind each other back's picking out wrong moves they make. I just sat & observed while in the dressing room with my daughter & one of the girls in her class. All I could do was soak it in.
The make-up was just over the top. I AM NOT JOKING AT ALL WHEN I SAY these girls could not blink the make-up was beyond anything I can say I have ever seen before. All of these kids are beautiful and extremely talented I just don't get why the make-up. It sure isn't going to help them do a better piles or back round house no not at all. I don't know if this is the mom's doing that started this craziness or  the society that we live in over sexualizing little girls! But I'm feeling wrong about being a part of this scene in anyway.
Two things became apparent last night, I am no dance mom. My daughter loves ballet..

Monday's

Today started like any other Monday. I woke up to my 4 yr old in bed with me I fell asleep watching That 70's show on Nick at Night  I totally brought this on to my self so I was up 30 minutes early. Coffee in hand I sat down trying to wake up after being stalked  followed into the living room with demands for food I quickly lost my extra 30 minutes. Time to get the boy up to my surprise he jumped up on my first attempt whew! No breakfast issues it was ready he liked the school lunch choice & even accepted the clothes choices I had laid out. We were moving along time to load into the van to drive him to school amazingly the drop off line was empty I quickly thought WTH is there school today? No just luck for us!!
I also started out day 2 of my Spring cleaning and got a lot accomplished.. All the wood floors are steamed & swept walls wiped down toys cleaned out. Way more than I thought possible with sissy home she was easily babysat distracted by all the cartoons that she never seen because she'd been at school. Tomorrow I will tackle the clothes issue I could easily clothe 2-3 more kids and at least 2 other women with the amount of excess we have right now. My poor husband well he only has 2 drawers and 2 shelves he's not the problem on this so I am left alone of the clothes clean out.

One big thing happened today I noticed for the second time that sissy had a red bump on her skull with a weird rash/scratchy area on it. With her history of Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis it set off flags for me that this could be signaling a flare up. So tomorrow I make the dreaded call to oncology to give them a heads up & see what her main doctor thinks if I should see her pediatrician or wait until our scheduled clinic appt. this Thursday. This is also her big hearing test day to see how much damage the tumor & chemo did to her.

Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Review

As I have mentioned in the past I am a Buzz Agent right now I have been lucky enough to be chosen for several campaigns. Being a buzz agent I am selected to try products for free & share my experience with my friends or just about any one I think could benefit from my campaigns! On Wednesday I got my much anticipated Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition buzz kit... Our mail runs 1st thing so I got to try it the day I got it!  I must say I was impressed, the shampoo was thick & lathered up great the smell refreshing!! The conditioner was also thick and it too smelled so good. I have super thick hair right now it is past my shoulders, just to let you know my hair type. So far I have used the shampoo four times. I can really tell a difference in my hair. It feels smoother & looks healthier. One thing I love is that you can feel the smoothness as soon as you rinse your hair in the shower brushing out my long hair has been a little easier too.. Overall I'd say that Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition is definitely worth a try!  Or if you prefer the New Sleek & Shine if your have dry frizzy humidity stricken hair this collection will give you smooth hair for up to 3 days!!

This is a look at my dry ends before starting the Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition campaign!

Perfect for me since I love to talk & this gives me the chance to strike up a conversation with just about any one I come across! One of the newest campaigns that I have been accepted to is the Garnier Fructis Campaign, I am excitedly waiting on my campaign kit to arrive & can't wait to share before & after pictures of my product results!Garnier Fructis Buzz Campaign

Loving the little things!

This week my daughter got her ballet costume for her upcoming showcase, something a few years ago we didn't know if something like this would happen. After her diagnosis and treatment for Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis changed our lives forever & in a split second. My 6 year old got his yearbook for his 1st year in school. Another  thing we didn't know if it would happen a few years ago when he had no speech what so ever and several other issues as well. But with a lot of hard work and too many to count therapy sessions he is on track to go onto 1st grade!!
Today was one of those days you just cherish as a mom, surprisingly I was allowed to sleep in to 1030 am I still don't know how I did this but I was awoken to bacon french toast & hot coffee! Amazing!! We all laid around in out jammies watching cartoons and playing around until late afternoon. Made chocolate chip cookies with sissy and hubby cooked dinner on the grill! A perfect chilly wet Saturday for me. How was your weekend?
